PUBLIC RELEASE

Choctaw County Child Nutrition

Choctaw County School District is pleased to announce we will once again this school year (2025-2026) be participating in Provision 2 of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the National School Breakfast Program (SBP) at Ackerman Elementary School, Choctaw County High School and French Camp Elementary School.

This program allows us to offer meals at no charge to all participating children.  Your child will be able to receive a healthy and nutritious meal at school free of charge.

Provision 2 is designed to reduce the administrative burden on schools and families.  In our initial base year which was last year, we collected applications and tracked meals by type (free, reduced-price, paid).  This year, tracking will be simplified to counting the total meals served daily, with no need for new eligibility determinations.  Reimbursement will be based on the base year’s claiming percentages.  Therefore, applications are not required.

Choctaw County School District is pleased to announce that we will once again this school year (2025-2026) be participating in the Community Eligibility Program at Weir Elementary School.  This provision ensures that all students at Weir Elementary School will receive free breakfast and lunch daily.

Household applications for free and reduced-price meals are not necessary for students at this school to receive free meals.  CEP is a component of the federal National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, designed to provide essential nutrition to children in eligible communities.
